Trump’s, Not Eliot’s, Wasteland

Eliot wrote poetry on world desolation
Dylan lamented man’s cruelty, his demons
They both thought they knew all about dystopia
While yearning and wishing for a new world utopia

So what would T.S. think if he were still around?
And what’s going through Bobby Z’s mind most profound
Prufrock proved Eliot was a great kidder
Robert is Nobel’s folkrock heavy hitter
And neither’d be amused by today’s goings on

We live through two plagues, both most biblical
One’s easily explained, its origins quite viral
The other’s a conundrum, tough to explain
A near-mortal wound on mankind’s jugular vein

How best to illustrate? How best to describe?
The ravage and ruin ‘round the world circumscribe
Pandemic and massacres, autocrats rule
Who turned this world into this fetid cesspool?
Trumpers blame Xi, that Covid denier
‘Jina Prez killed 100k, a global betrayer

No, it’s him, the corrupt hump they call Trump
Bile gushes from his mouth, a man without guts
Desperate to win and dodge the calaboose
Don’t take a shrink to see he’s plain nuts
Do I jump to conclusions? Not on your life
He rends our nation with a grim reaper’s scythe
In his own precious words, evidence presents
A president without precedent, our First Sociopath

Mexico will undoubtedly pay for his wall
Putin’s best buddy, they buy curtains at the mall
Biggest inauguration crowd ever
As a businessman he succeeds at every endeavor

‘Liz Warren he sneers, calls Pocahontas
All beautiful women obviously want us
Trump’s best president? Ole’ Hickory Jackson
Killed 4,000 Cherokee on a march just like Bataan

Loves Obamagate, we know what it is
And Barack played more golf ‘stead of tending to biz
Don’t forget No Drama bugged Donnie’s headquarters
A claim mocked by all spook community staffers

Hillary oh Hillary, an endless gold mine
If it wasn’t so toxic this vein’d be sublime
A security risk her darn email servers
Though his private cell phone is a haven for hackers

Clinton Foundation’s the ultimate corruption
While Trump University stole more than a million
Impeachment and Russia, all hoax and witch hunt
Benghazi? A terrible scandal blatant
A piñata, a pin cushion Hil’s been for Donald
A gullible nation Tricky Trumpy has gulled

That novel virus, another great hoax
A fake liberal ruse, Dems jokes on the folks
Invented, he said, just to attack him
The death tolls, he sez, are ‘gonna be nothin’

Roy Moore, Roger Stone, both moral citizens
So’s Kelly and Manafort, Nazis and Klansmens
Good people all those Fox genuflecters
I did more on 7/11 than those brave first responders
(And yes he said 7/11, among many bloopers)

Joe’s sleepy and senile. Nancy’s a boozer
Jeb’s got no energy, a terrible danger
Tariffs? Easy peazy. Wars easily won
His ludicrous levies cost many billions
I couldn’t find anyone he’s called a schmuck
But Chuck’s a disaster, a political jerk

McCain’s no hero, ‘cause he got captured
While Trump is a draft dodging bone spurring slacker
Meghan M., Michigan gov, the Denmark PM, all very nasty
Mistreating our poor victim, nasty women too mouthy

No dark immigrants from shithole countries
But hordes of white Swedes we can squeeze in quite comfy
Better prez than George W. and old Abe Lincoln
Treated worse than Abe though Abe died from Booth’s gun

Every Dem a socialist, they’re killing America
So he lays waste our safety net, that’s his panacea
No SNAP, ACA, unemployed can’t pay rents
Lazy working poor welfare non-essential malcontents

Our air is the cleanest, our rivers the purest
While lead water, chemicals kill oldest and poorest
He knows more than generals. Has an instinct for science
But no masks for him, no respect, just defiance

He’ll definitely kill AIDS and childhood cancer
But stay away from those windmills, they’re a cancer advancer
He never lies ‘bout corrupt ballot fraud
Fake votes from dark people streaming from abroad
His cause is so righteous, he’ll shut down Twitter
For policing his lies and insults and slander

His fictions hurtle well past 18k, says WAPO
That’s 16 a day since winning the jobo
No reason to think he’ll ever stop libeling
And shut his vicious foul twittering moutho

Everyone, he says, should own a gun
(and more than one)
To cut down the bad guys like Bat Masterson
Never trust that deep state intelligence
To him Putin has many tons more credence

Xi and Kim and the Crown Prince of ‘rabia
Love him just like the Prez of Romania
Dopes at Time gave young Greta its award
How dare they ignore our deserving landlord
He’s the best leader America ever has had
Vlad’s bestiest comrade, good buds, amistad

I could go on with his crazed shit endlessly
He’s a bottomless well of toxic malignity
Like a pathogen legion invading the body
Overwhelming every white cell and every immunity

We’re a nation of laws and procedures and customs
Based on life and liberty and pursuit of humanity
But there’s only so much the system can suffer
‘Fore it’s overwhelmed by that parasite’s morbidity

He’s inflicted a wound on the world and its people
I fear four more years will truly prove fatal
If he wins in November, the Republic is done
Reserve front row seats and enjoy Armageddon

Organize and vote, mail in that ballot
Resist all attempts at franchise suppression
Ignore his vile bile, the snake oil he’s peddling
That’s hardened and harshened and coarsened our nation

Kick him to the curb with his brownnosing toadies
Give his soulless bootlickers your hardest boot
Then turn them over to those clamoring AG’s
For nice custom tailored, bright orange jumpsuit
